In 2021, CF4CG was granted permission by Lutheran Church of the Redeemer to create a garden on their property. A section of lawn was partitioned for the garden, and we transformed the space with the help of our volunteers.
While the soil was depleted at first, our remediation efforts were successful. In its first season, the garden yielded over 500 pounds of food for the community!
This successful project now serves as our blueprint for the creation of several additional garden spaces throughout our communities.
This spring, we are beginning a new fruit tree initiative. Our goal is to create fruit tree spaces throughout North Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley, each with at least 3 fruit trees. All fruit harvested from these sites will be given to community members struggling with food insecurity.
We are seeking locations with space for at least three fruit trees, requiring approximately 15 feet of spacing between each. We are seeking to plant in public parks, or on the property of community or religious organizations. If you know of a location that may work, please fill out our form.
Before they become fruits and vegetables, they start out as seedlings. Support this year's harvest from the comfort of your own home.
